       Jack
Hagberg was a firefighter / member of Ladder54 for many years and in the
fire service for 25 years. One afternoon while overhauling a house fire,
Jack became very tired and weak. In the days that followed he had medical
tests done to try and find out what was wrong. The tests eventually uncovered
leukemia. Jack went through a series of leukemia treatments over the months
and it appeared he had beaten the cancer. He was scheduled to return to
light-duty to prepare for coming back on shift at truck company 54 when
he developed a fever. This progressed and on February 20th, 1998 Jack
        succumbed to the disease.

It is with deep regret that our friend is no longer with us. We all have
fond memories of Jack in the fire station, on fire and EMS calls, and
everywhere else in between. And, like most firefighters, we all recall
the humerous tales and occassions we had with Jack. He was a unique person
and a real character. We will miss him dearly. He was a dedicated father,
        friend, and brother firefighter.
